Carpet cleaners are a pretty big deal, and if you’re looking for some options that might work best in your home there’s no better company than Bissell. And because it can be difficult to find the right one, I’ve narrowed down six of their great products to help guide you on this journey. Whether or not is has pets who shed constantly all over your carpeting (shout out!) these reviews will give you just about everything you need to know before make an investment!
Oh sorry, I’ve forgotten to say hello! My name is Alinda, and if we haven’t met before, let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a mom of four loving children, two boys, a girl, and a labrador named Bow. My husband can sometimes be considered one of the kids, but that’s another story. Because of my career as a research analyst for a big firm, I have always been analytical about things and, I have to admit, I have a bit of OCD when it comes to maintaining my home as any mother does. We moved into this house a few short years ago after leaving are overly cramped 1400 spare foot home. Now that we are in a bigger place, I find that there is a lot more for me to clean. My husband loves carpet because of his childhood hatred for old creaky wooden floors. Now, I have to deal with the excessive stains that happen daily. Though my carpets are glowing, and I didn’t even call any professionals.
When it comes to shopping for a carpet cleaner, they all have great benefits. Choosing the best one for your family is up to you of course. I find myself battling with the problems verses the uprights. For my family situation, the uprights have always seemed to handle bigger messes better. The problems do work, but it all depends on what you need. Here are six Bissell carpet cleaners that I have researched and given my insight on.
1) BISSELL SpotClean Pro
So, you may already know that I have a bit of a back problem. Finding something with the extra power I needed, without all the extra load, has been difficult. No matter what, I was determined to find something small that had as much power as the big upright carpet cleaners.
If you don’t already know, Bissell has been a favorite brand of mine for many years. Their carpet cleaners really are well made, well-specced, and well priced. Of course, you should always do your research before buying but I can definitely recommend this brand as it produces consistently good cleaners.
This carpet cleaner isn’t a steam cleaner. Personally, I adore steam cleaners. I feel like the added heat not only helps with the stain but eliminates much of the bacteria. To counter this, there is a cleaning formula included. It works perfectly because stains are nonexistent after use. It has handy tools for hard to reach places. I look for this in carpet cleaners because it adds that extra stretch. The feature that got me was the two-year warranty. Any company that backs their product with a warranty usually is a good sign. It means that they believe in the quality of their product and are willing to replace it if something were to go wrong. Customer service is always a great feature to have. With all this being said, this carpet cleaner is a beast. It’s small, lightweight, but don’t let that fool you. It has enough power to turn back time on that stain! Here are some qualities you might want to consider.
Pros
- Maneuverability
It does have an extension cord, but it is extra-long. I always have had issues with cords, but this one is 22 feet long. For me, this was just enough to have enough freedom to maneuver.
- It gets the job done
There’s no denying it that it helps with stains. The main goal is to get rid of all the accidents that happen.
- It’s Size
This feature is important to me. It was small and lightweight. This also makes it easy to store.
Cons
- It has a cord
Alright, so, I know what I said earlier, but I will always have an issue with cords. Now, this is where your preference comes in. For me, my kids go crazy over the cord. It isn’t such a huge issue because most times they are interested in the machine itself. Not only that, but the retractable cord feature is nice to have, but the cord is so long that it takes time out of other things I could be doing. I have to sit and pull the 22-foot cord back into place.
- It may not be the best for big messes
Again, I battle with myself. The upright versus the portable carpet cleaners. I honestly don’t think one doesn’t clean better than the other but, I find myself cleaning colossal stains. This, for me, was overworked, and I needed more convenience for myself.
- The warranty is limited
As always, you should read the fine print. With many companies, a limited warranty can mean anything. The most important thing to consider is the fact that there is one. With a limited warranty, only certain parts of the product are covered for replacement.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
2) Bissell 1548 ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Full-Size Carpet Cleaner
With much effort, I tried to find the best portable carpet cleaner. Again, the portable carpet cleaners are great. For my messes, though, I can get more range with uprights. This full-size carpet cleaner from Bissell should have many pleased users. There are many things that caught my attention with this cleaner. The one thing I noticed is that it was aimed at pets. I also noticed a review from a previous customer who was a veterinarian and had multiple pets. Another reviewer said they would give it ten stars if they could. If that person possibly had multiple Bows, then this carpet cleaner could handle anything!
Pros
- Maneuverable
With my bad back, I always look for the weight. This carpet cleaner is upright but weighs about the same as some portable cleaners. I also like the build because it was easy for me to store.
- Choices
Not every mess is ridiculous. This cleaner has two modes, Deep Clean, and Express Clean. I found that using the Express Clean mode when you tackle the accident quickly works fine. Those stains you go without noticing all day are better tackled with the Deep Clean Mode.
- Cleaning Tools
I always like the tools that I can store in my tool belt. It comes with a detachable hose that can be used to clean upholstery. The best tool for me was the Pet Stain Tool. Anything to help battle Bow’s presents.
Cons
- Cleaning
It cleans, it gets the stains, but for me, I found that the performance varied because of the amount of work I gave it. Other than that, it helps to use all of the formulas on stains that have been there for a while.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
3) Bissell 86T3/86T3Q Big Green Deep Cleaning Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner Machine
Another crowd pleaser, and absolutely one of my favorites. I continually battled the performance versus the weight factor. Then, I finally gave in and got something heavy duty. Did it hurt my back after a long day of using, yes. Was it worth it? Read on to find out.
Pros
- Comes With Formula
For me, trying these new formulas was fun. It is nice to see what works best for you. I found that in combination with the formula, it did wonders.
- The Deepest Clean
My carpet was glowing. You wouldn’t be able to tell I had kids, a husband, and a dog. It extracts the dirt with its rotating dirt lifter.
- Convenience
There’s no getting around the weight fo me, but it offers some comfort to that issue. The clean and dirty water tanks have high capacity, so you don’t have to go running back and forth to the sink as often.
- Efficient
As much as I need the stain gone I need it to dry quickly also. I do not like wet socks! This carpet cleaner cleaned the mess, and it dried super-fast.
Cons
- The Weight
Again, I needed something that was easy on my back and at 53.2 pounds I found myself lugging it around. The cleaning ability is close to that of professional quality. I always find myself choosing between weight and cleaning capacity.
So, was it worth lifting this around the house? Whenever I have those mighty stains and accident, I always come back to this.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
4) BISSELL PowerLifter PowerBrush Upright Deep Cleaner, 1622
This carpet cleaner is easily one of the best uprights I have used. It is not ridiculously heavy and has great cleaning power. It has a good amount of power brushes that gets the job done and has a 2 in 1 water tank for convenience. I say it had a good quality build and was easy for storage for me. Other qualities I noticed made it seem like a good addition to anyone’s family. I noticed there were many mixed reviews, so I was hesitant to get it. I think, at the price pint, it does a good clean.
Pros
- Warranty
With any company, I always look for a god warranty. Any quality product can break, and I like to protect my investment.
- Tools
It had some convenient tools like a removable nozzle and built-in measuring cup. It also has a lint screen.
Cons
Although it is up there with my favorites, I found that my messy family could over load it. It cleans deep with the four rows of Dirt Lifter Power Brushes, but it wasn’t the strongest cleaning upright for me.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
5) BISSELL DeepClean Premier Pet Carpet Cleaner, 17N4
Another Bissell champion in the lineup, I found this carpet cleaner to be perfect on my pet stains. It definitely stood up to my expectations with uprights, and it has the Heat wave Technology I like. It has full 12 rows of rotating brushes, so I see this fit for people like me who need extra help with stains.
Pros
- Many Tools To Help You Clean
Along with the 12 rotating brushes, it has EdgeSweep brushes for baseboards. It also has surrounded suction to help with faster drying. It has the pet hair collection basket and the tough stain brush for those messes that seem to fight back. The deep reach tool also helps me avoid strenuous work since I already have my hands full.
- Warranty
What I liked about this product was the long 3-year limited warranty.
- Picks Up Hair Like Crazy
Having a Labrador, it looks great, and they are wonderful companions, but they shed everywhere. Wherever Bow goes, you’ll know, just follow the traces of hair, and be careful because you might step in a present he left behind (we have tried everything to train him, but nothing seems to be working!)
Cons
- Warranty
Again, you never know what to expect with limited warranties.
- Short Cord
I need length. This may not be an important issue to some, but I use carpet cleaners frequently. Bow doesn’t really have a favorite spot where he likes to leave his messes, so I need freedom to roam.
- Heavy
This is not something I want to lift all day. I am still trying to find my perfect upright that cleans and weighs practically nothing.
- Very Little Cleaner
I know these may be samples, but when I dump out the waste, the cleaner solution goes with it sometimes. Fortunately, I have multiple cleaners of my own, but it would be nice to get more.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
6) BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner with Deep Reach Technology, 33N8A
I like anything that offers me convenience. This spot cleaner does it for me. Maybe you’ll like it too!
Pros
- Handsfree
As much as I enjoy cleaning, I have a lot on my plate. The fact that I can just walk away is always nice. The issue for me though is that I have curious kids, so it hasn’t always been the easiest thing to do.
- Fights Stains
It has the Unique Spiral Brushing action that performs over 400 cleaning revolutions. It gets deep down and lifts the stain.
Cons
- Wasn’t Easy To Store
It seems tiny, but it’s not. It’s actually bulky. I had an issue storing it. Maybe it’s because I don’t have great closet space.
- Stain Fighting Power
As with many carpet cleaners, the real test is constant use. I have an extensive workload and uprights work best for me.See its Latest Price, Images and details on Amazon
So the battle continues. I ask myself daily, will I find the perfect match. For now, these are all quality carpet cleaners. They each have their highs and lows like any product. What do you think, upright or portable? Honestly, they both work great, but you should try it out for you home situation. For me, though, my battle continues, my kids walked in the house with mud all over their clothes and, of course, their shoes. That’s not even the worse part; they had on puppy dog eyes with a kitten in my son’s hand who was doing the same. Huh.
